Service Sites

Along with engaging courses at the TCNJ campus, students enrolled in the Bonner Program will also be asked to participate in off-campus, community-service-focused learning.  There are a few possible places and organizations you, as a Bonner scholar, may be asked to work with.  They are as follows:

For HIS100 & SOC101

  • ASA – Academic Sports Academy – Summer program for Pre-K to 8th graders in Trenton run by Greg Grant – Here is the mission and a little more information http://www.ggrant94ftinc.com/ACAD.htm -  students would be helping with daily activities at the summer camp
  • TASK – Trenton Area Soup Kitchen - http://www.trentonsoupkitchen.org/ - students would be serving food on the line, helping prepare food, and organizing the donations
  • Habitat for Humanity - http://habitatta.org/default.aspx - students would be helping with building projects and at the Re-Store
  • Environmental Projects – students would be helping with our campus garden (planting and harvesting food for the soup kitchen), local park clean-ups, and other environmental projects!

For ‘Finding Your Voice in Art’

  • Students will work on murals and other art projects for some of the Bonner Community Partner sites in Trenton (Trenton Central High School could be a primary site).

For SPE103

  • Students will be doing service with kids and/or adults with developmental or learning disabilities.
